New Renault Scénic 1.3 TCe

New generation of Renault Scénic engines powers up

Sensuous, fluid lines on the outside have now been matched under the bonnet with the arrival of new Renault Scénic 1.3 TCe engines. The Energy TCe 115 engine and its bigger brother the Energy TCe 140 engine are the result of a major development partnership. The result is a significant increase in driving pleasure for both the 2018 Renault Scénic TCe and the 2018 Grand Scénic TCe, the first recipients of this new technology. These new Renault Scénic engines bring a host of advantages. Compared with previous petrol versions, both the 1.3 TCe 115 and 140 engines offer reduced CO2 emissions on both the Scénic and the Grand Scénic. The Scénic sees a reduction of seven grams, whilst the CO2 emissions from the Grand Scénic reduce by 11 grams.

1.3 TCe 115 CO2 Emissions Fuel Consumption
Renault Scénic 122g/km Up to 52.3mpg
Renault Grand Scénic 125g/km Up to 50.4mpg
1.3 TCe 140
Renault Scénic 122g/km Up to 52.3mpg
Renault Grand Scénic 125g/km Up to 51.4mpg

In addition to better fuel economy and emissions reductions, these new engines offer the availability of increased torque at lower revs, as well as making more torque constantly available at higher revs. For you as the driver, this means a much more enjoyable drive in your Scénic or Grand Scénic.

Several technological innovations have made these engines possible, including:

  • Bore spray coating to increase efficiency by reducing friction and optimising heat transfer
  • Increasing the pressure of the direct fuel injection to 250 bar
  • Optimising the fuel/air mix by using a specific combustion chamber design
  • Using dual variable timing camshaft technology to control the intake and exhaust valves according to engine loads

The Energy TCe 115 is available with a manual transmission, whilst the Energy TCe 140 is available with either a manual or an EDC automatic transmission. These engines are expected to become available on other Renault models soon. You can order your new Renault Scénic 1.3 TCe or Grand Scénic 1.3 TCe right now and we expect first deliveries at Brayley Renault in February.
