Sorry, but to safeguard our staff and customers, we’re currently open by appointment only. If you arrive at one of our Service Centres without a prior booking, you’ll be asked to wait until the next available appointment to ensure everyone’s safety. If you’re a key worker, at risk or have an urgent servicing requirement, please contact our Service team.
If you’re experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, then you should cancel your appointment and follow government guidelines here.
When you arrive for your servicing appointment, our customer teams will give you instructions on what to do. You’ll see that our Service Centres look a little different, with social distancing signs, floor markings and screens.
You’ll be asked to sanitise your hands, wear a mask, maintain social distancing and comply with our hygiene measures. We’ve restricted or suspended our customer waiting areas and no refreshments will be available. We’ll only open the customer toilets on request, so we can make sure they’re thoroughly cleaned after every use.
For your protection, as well as that of our staff, our vehicle handover procedures are designed to maintain the recommended two-metre distance at all times. You’ll be asked to clean your hands with disinfectant gel when you arrive and to maintain social distancing throughout your visit.
We’ll regularly disinfect surfaces and door handles, as well as protecting paperwork and keys. We’ll clean your car before we work on it and use seat covers and steering-wheel covers for additional safety. We’ll sanitise your car again before we return it to you, ensuring that areas such as door handles, seats, driver controls, the steering wheel, the gear lever and the handbrake are all disinfected.
We’re also able to use an anti-viral machine to sanitise your air-conditioning system, difficult to reach areas and porous surfaces inside your car. Contact us for more information.
For Warranty enquiries, we currently recommend that you check on the manufacturer’s website for details on services and warranty validity. We would advise you to arrange a service as soon as it’s convenient for you to do so. Look out for warranty information updates on our website.
If your MOT expired before 30th March 2020, get in touch with us for advice on your particular circumstances.
If your MOT expired between 30th March and 31st July 2020, the government extended the MOT due date by six months. You should check when that extension runs out and contact us to book your car in for its MOT. Normal MOT testing rules were reinstated from 1 August.
If you’re not sure when your MOT will expire or whether it might already have run out, you can check on the government website. You can also find more information about MOTs on our MOT information page.
We’ll clean your car thoroughly before our staff work on it. We also use seat covers and steering-wheel covers for additional safety. We’ll clean it again before we return it to you, ensuring that areas such as door handles, seats, driver controls, the steering wheel, the gear lever and the handbrake are all sanitised.
If you have not used your car for some time, there’s a good chance that the battery is flat.
If you’re covered by the AA, RAC or another recovery service, you may be able to request assistance to get your car started at home. Even if you’re not a member, in an emergency, the AA can supply and fit a battery at home if required. Find details here.
If your battery is in good condition, you should be able to leave your car for a couple of weeks without running it. If you’re concerned about your battery, using a smart charger or periodically running your car for about 15 minutes once a week or so should keep the battery power topped up.
Car servicing is the regular replacement of your car’s oil, filters. It also generally includes comprehensive component and systems checks such as the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes and tyres. Worn or damaged parts can be replaced.
For optimal performance and reliability, you should service your car once a year or every 12,000 miles. It’s practical and time-saving to combine your car’s service with your annual MOT.
Each car has its own manufacturer’s service schedule, outlined in the manual. The service history should detail your car’s periodic maintenance. By checking your car’s current mileage, you’ll know if your car is due for a service. If in doubt, contact your local Brayleys dealership. We’d be happy to advise you.
