With two European premieres on its stand, Mazda at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show managed to outshine even its own superb range of current models. The RX-VISION, named the most beautiful concept car at the Paris Festival Automobile International, and the highly efficient Mazda3 SKYACTIV-D were definitely the stars of the Mazda stand.
With all the benefits of a new and unique approach to KODO design and featuring Mazda’s SKYACTIV-R rotary engine, the RX-VISION concept clearly shows Mazda’s commitment to bringing rotary engine technology into modern car design, and places Mazda ahead of the game in developing rotary engine technology which could be utilised in hybrid or hydrogen vehicles in the future. The concept RX-Vision looked absolutely stunning, as well as being a significant technological advance.
The other big star of the Mazda stand was the Mazda3. Putting the SKYACTIV-D 1.5 engine in the Mazda3 has given it headlining efficiency figures of only 99g/km of CO2 emissions and 74.3mpg combined, making it an even more attractive proposition for the family seeking low cost motoring in a fun package, as well as for businesses where the running costs can be all important.
All the European Mazda car line up were present, including the all-new Mazda MX-5, already having bagged 15 awards around the world and seen its sales quadruple in the final quarter of 2015.
