Putting the super into supermini
Hyundai’s popular supermini is even better in souped-up form. What’s more, the Hyundai i20 N offers a super-fun driving experience without sacrificing everyday practicality and comfort. Indeed, this hot hatch is very easy to live with – it’s just that it’s quicker, slicker and more responsive than the regular model.
Despite its many sporty attributes, the i20 N is perfectly in tune with the everyday motoring needs of the average household. For one thing, it offers five-door access to a well-appointed cabin which comfortably accommodates a young family of five or four six-foot adults over long distances. It features a 352-litre boot too, which increases to a 1,165-litre capacity whenever rear seats are dropped.
The i20 N takes its inspiration from the i20 Coupé WRC, a rally-winning race car whose DNA infuses every part of this superlative supermini which is, in effect, an everyday sports car. Boasting head-turning style and athletic poise, the i20 N has been cleverly designed to deliver optimal aerodynamics and performance.
Powered by a 1.6-litre T-GDi petrol engine, the Hyundai i20 N outputs 201bhp and a maximum torque of 275Nm. It’s a potent combination that delivers 0-62mph in little more than six seconds and enables a top speed of 143mph. Even so, the i20 N is able to return up to 47mpg.
