Bigger, bolder, better
Set for release in early 2024, the all-new Hyundai SANTA Fe is a radical reinvention of a critically regarded vehicle. The fifth-generation model features a longer wheelbase, which means even more room inside than before – and it’s available in hybrid and plug-in hybrid form.
An increased wheelbase means more legroom in row two than before, which is saying something. The same applies to the rearmost row, which means the SANTA Fe is even more capable of comfortably conveying seven adult occupants. A mooted 725-litre boot is bigger than the 571-litre capacity available with current models (five-seat mode), and access is made easier by a tailgate which uses the full width of the vehicle.
More rugged and angular than ever, the all-new SANTA Fe’s imposing good looks allow it to stand further apart from others in the crowded family SUV sector. New features include an LED light bar that extends the full width of the front fascia, culminating in headlights fashioned into an ‘H’ motif. The rear fascia is just as impressive, featuring similarly H-styled taillights, and the SANTA FE legend boldly emblazoned below the Hyundai logo.
Hybrid models are powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine which is assisted by an electric motor and self-charging battery. This produces 178bhp and 265Nm of torque, enabling nippy acceleration (0-62mph in less than 10 seconds) while returning a 43.8mpg combined figure.
Plug-in hybrid variants are equipped with the aforementioned engine, paired with a higher capacity battery than before, enabling enhanced electric range and 0-62mph in just nine seconds.
Concerned about Clean Air Zone charges? Worry not because whichever 2024 SANTA FE iteration you choose, it’s completely exempt from such tariffs.
