WHAT IS A CAMBELT?
A Cambelt or Timing chain is one of the most important components of your engine. It is responsible for ensuring all parts of the engine are working and moving in sync which means your vehicle will run smoothly. 

Different vehicles will have different variations of this component - some may have a chain, made from metal links, instead of a belt, which is typically made from rubber. Timing chains often last longer than a belt, and are likely to last the life time of a car. Vehicles with belt's may require more maintenance.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY CAMBELT BE REPLACED?
We recommend that you change your cambelt every 5 years or 90,000 miles - whichever comes first. It's important when buying a car to understand when the Belt or Chain was last replaced to can you take into account potential maintenance costs.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I  DON'T REPLACE MY CAMBELT?
If you leave it too late and the belt fails, there is a high probability of major engine damage and your car could require a new engine. The rubber belt will start to deteriorate over time, it is a Service item and will need replacing periodically.
