The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP is created with the racetrack in mind, which is not to say it doesn’t excel in other riding scenarios. The Honda Fireblade SP is typified by first-class build quality and eye-catching design; it’s no wonder that the famed Japanese brand continues to top global superbike sales charts. This latest model boasts a longer chassis, offering more flexibility than ever – providing smoother direction of travel, enhanced riding intuitiveness and greater stability. With its classic red, white and blue livery, the Fireblade SP makes quite an impression. Even so, there are two other eye-catching options, including Grand Prix, which puts more focus on the colour red. Meanwhile, Matte Pearl Morion is a striking all-black colour scheme featuring gold relief and the distinctive red-white-and-blue HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) insignia.

Lightweight carbon fixtures

With the CBR1000RR-R range in general, Honda has done its utmost to reduce weight in order to maximise speed. This is why the Fireblade SP is fitted with several significantly lighter 3K prepreg carbon features, including the bike’s airbox cover, front mudguard, rear hugger and under cowl.

Tricolour wheel stripe set

Red-white-and-blue-coloured wheel stripes are included as standard, incorporating the similarly toned HRC emblem. Optional wheel strip sets include Italian Red, Pearl Sunbeam White, Green Metallic and Candy Tahitian Blue.

Supplied with a Smoked finish as standard, the Fireblade SP’s WVTA-certified high screen is designed to provide you with additional high-speed wind protection. Made with lightweight yet durable polycarbonate, this high screen is also available in Clear.

Speed demon

A liquid-cooled, 16-valve four-cylinder 1,000cc engine produces 214.6bhp at 14,500rpm and a peak torque of 113Nm, enabling a heart-stopping top speed of 186mph. Of course, you’re not going to be able to take full advantage of the bike’s full capabilities on public roads, but it’s always nice to know the potency of the machine you’re straddling. The bike’s standard-issue quick shifter is faster than ever, offering a shorter fuel cut-off time and smoother post-shifting torque pickup. The net result: greater speed with each gear shift. Naturally, since the Fireblade SP is a superbike, it’s not designed with fuel-economy high on the agenda. Nevertheless, it’s more than capable of 40mpg, which means that a full (16.1-litre) tank will provide you with a good 120 miles’ worth of travel before the next top-up is required.
