If you fancy taking a break from a bigger bike – or you’re ready to take the metaphorical stabilisers off and progress from a 125cc two-wheeler, the Honda CB300R is an excellent option. Whether you’re travelling around town or enjoying every twist and turn of a long country road, it’s a blast to ride. The motorcycle’s lightweight yet super-robust frame is propelled by easily accessible power while premium suspension and braking prowess afford nimble, confident handling.
This newest addition to the Neo Sports Café CB range more than justifies its place. If you’re a relative beginner and you require an upgrade – a stepping-stone bike if you will –there are few if any better options. Conversely, if you’re a more seasoned rider, someone who’s used to a 650cc bike, perhaps, the CB300R makes for a refreshing and fun change.
Neo Sports Café minimalism
Boasting a distinctive look which we’ve come to expect from the Neo Sports Café range, the Honda CB300R is a naked roadster whose minimalist design is one of its biggest assets. And the latest model has undergone a number of revisions. While the bike’s steel frame remains the same, it contains a new engine – and new, lighter Showa Separate Function Fork-Big Piston forks that offer more spring. Though the bike is one kilogramme heavier than the outgoing version (mainly due to a revised catalytic converter), it’s now Euro 5-compliant – yet another point in its favour. In order to make the CB300R truly your own, you’ll want to choose an appropriate colour – and there are two excellent new options. Matte Pearl Agile Blue and Pearl Dusk Yellow are now selectable, joining the existing Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic and Candy Chromosphere Red choices.

New and improved
The Honda CB300R benefits from a number of engine tweaks, some of which ensure that it now meets with the latest European emissions standards. Elsewhere, suspension upgrades have created enhanced handling dynamics. A liquid-cooled single-cylinder 286cc engine produces 31bhp and 27.5Nm of torque, enabling a top speed of 95mph while returning as much as 85.3mpg and producing CO2 emissions from 72g/km. With a full 10-litre tank, the bike offers a maximum 200-mile range too. The latest Assist and Slipper Clutch technology helps make gear changes easier than ever, ensuring as smooth a ride as possible. For instance, the bike will happily cruise at a wide variety of speeds and you’ll barely notice the difference.
