If you’re raring to begin your motorcycling journey, there are few better places to start than with the Honda CB125R. Introduced as a replacement to the top-selling, fully faired and racing-styled CBR125R, this 125cc two-wheeler has proven to be an extremely worthy and very popular successor.
Strikingly fashioned – featuring a tubular steel frame, full-LED lights and eye-catching LCD dash, this mini minimalist masterpiece looks much bigger than it is. It’s a bike that’s designed to acclimatise learners to real-world riding, boasting the kind of high-level specification that many much larger motorcycles can only dream of.
If you require a top-drawer 125cc motorcycle which is ideal for A1 licence-holders and would suit a son, daughter, nephew or niece – look no further than the Honda CB125R.
Sports naked style
Imbued with a captivating Neo Sports Café style that calls to mind the CB300R, CB650R and even CB1000R, the CB125R is one of the best-looking 125cc bikes money can buy. In case you’re wondering what is meant by the Neo Sports Café term, allow us to provide you with a brief explanation. Essentially, it’s a thoroughly modern sports naked (i.e. completely without fairing: those parts that obscure the engine and frame) bike possessed of appealingly retro (1960s Café Racer) aesthetics. As with every other bike in the Neo Sports Café collection, the CB125R respectfully homages those much-loved early-60s sports motorcycles while bringing the concept bang up to date. With the Honda CB125R in your possession, you’ll be proud to take to the streets – and you’ll do so in style.

Enhanced performance
The new CB125R has undergone a number of improvements, one of which ensures that it’s finally Euro 5-compliant. In so doing, a single overhead camshaft engine has been replaced by a dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) powerplant, still measuring 125cc but delivering more power and torque than ever. Speaking of which, the bike produces a maximum 14.8bhp at 10,000rpm and a peak torque of 11.6Nm at 8,000rpm, enabling a super-low 50g/km CO2 emission figure. Another important upgrade is to the bike’s suspension, which comes in the shape of a 41-millimetre Showa Separate Function front Fork-Big Piston – which is a first for a 125cc bike of any description. As the name suggests, this premium set-up allows for separate fork functionality, the left fork featuring a damping cartridge and the right fork containing a pneumatic air sprint. The result? Enhanced feel and control – and greater bump absorption.
