Scrappage schemes – what are they all about? 

You’ll probably have read reports of how older cars, especially some diesels, are particularly bad for the environment. This effect is heightened in our towns and inner cities, especially affecting the old, the very young and anyone with a breathing difficulty such as asthma. If you buy a new car from Brayleys, it will conform to the very latest emissions requirements, EU 6, which are far more rigorous. That means you can drive with the peace of mind of knowing that you have done everything you can to minimise the impact of your driving on the environment and on other people in your community. Our scrappage schemes are designed to remove older, more polluting cars from our roads by encouraging motorists like you to replace their current car with a new, more efficient model.

What happens to my old car? 

In some cases, younger vehicles may be resold as part of our used stock, but the majority of vehicles, the older and most polluting models, will be returned to the original manufacturer. These old cars will never be put back on the road but will be securely scrapped in as an environmentally friendly way as possible. Mazda, for example, ensures that at least 95% of each car returned under the Mazda Scrappage scheme is recycled.
