Nissan LEAF to undertake 100% electric, 100-day ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour

Nissan is embarking on a 100-day tour to mark its sponsorship of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, by transporting the tournament trophy across England and Wales in an all-electric Tour of major towns and cities, backed by the brand’s dealer network.

Nissan hosted its first event last week at the Fareham Shopping Centre in Hampshire, supported by West Way Southampton who provided a 100% electric LEAF in which to transport the iconic trophy.

The LEAF will be transporting the Trophy all over England and Wales at multiple stops across the country including community centres, schools and even iconic British landmarks such as Stonehenge.

During the Tour, cricket fans will be given the opportunity to win tickets to seven of the tournament’s key fixtures, with five pairs of tickets being given away at each of the key venues.

“The ICC Cricket World Cup is the ideal partner for the 100% electric Nissan LEAF,” said Nic Verneuil, Nissan Motors (GB) marketing director. “The LEAF appeals to free-thinking customers drawn to Nissan Intelligent Mobility and its promise of intelligent power, drive and integration.

“We are thrilled to be taking the World Cup on a national Trophy Tour, visiting shopping centres in the vicinity of major cricket venues hosting games this summer. It will also be visiting key Nissan facilities including where the LEAF is engineered (Nissan Technical Centre Europe, Bedfordshire) and manufactured (Nissan Manufacturing UK, Sunderland), to bring the excitement of cricket closer to our experts in innovation.”

The consistent high demand for the Nissan LEAF secured its crown as the best-selling EV overall in Europe for 2018, with more than 40,000 sold across the continent. In addition, the Nissan LEAF remains the world’s best-selling EV, with more than 380,000 units sold globally since the original car launched in 2010.

The new LEAF is the icon of #IntelligentMobility, helping to pioneer a future which brings together intelligent power, intelligent driving and intelligent integration. For more information, check out #SimplyAmazing or #ElectrifyTheWorld on social media or click here
