We compare The All New Nissan Electric Hot Hatch - vs the Tesla Saloon 3 ‘With the new LEAF, Nissan's done something even more exciting than create a good electric car. They've made a car that will give people who might normally buy a hatchback with a petrol engine a completely different option, almost without compromise. Doesn't it say something that our only complaint about a fully electric vehicle is the adjustability of the steering wheel?’ GQ magazine Jan’ 2018 Nissan are proud to launch the new Nissan LEAF and Tesla are quaking at the impressive stats the new car on the block boasts. It’s quite easy to do a comparison of performance figures, but would that really be a fair comparison? One is a saloon car the other is a hatchback, the only similarity between the two cars is that they are electric, other than that you may as well be comparing a Toyota Auris with a Mercedes C class, you just wouldn’t do it. But what we will do is give you a compelling argument on why the Nissan LEAF is the number 1 best-selling electric car worldwide for 2017, and now that we’ve made it even better why would you pay more for anything else? Nissan have 210 UK dealerships to look after your every need, a recognised, trusted and aspirational brand. Tesla have 10 UK service Centres and 17 ‘Stores and Galleries’ in the UK, just as well they have a good distribution of charging points to get your car to your nearest dealership. Tesla, well known within the electric car market, not so well known on the street, where they will spend most of their life! People won’t question what a Nissan is – need we say more? The Nissan LEAF is a sporty hatchback and boasts a compact design whist maintaining a spacious interior, an oxymoron if you like, but one that makes it so suitable for UK cities and roads. The car excels in the streets of London and other congested cities, being able to fit down small side streets. However, the Nissan LEAF also has large boot space and when needed can be further increased by lying down the rear seats. The Nissan LEAF is showcasing the latest in driving technology, the E-Pedal. Simply amazing, the E-pedal enables you to use just one pedal to drive the car, from start to stop. ‘Our favourite new feature which actually works was the e-Pedal, which is better than anything that Tesla’s been able to come up with.’ Impressive, thanks again GQ magazine, but it will also improve driver and energy consumption efficiency and is perfect for urban driving where accelerating and braking are common. Don’t worry though- if driving with one pedal isn’t for you, there is still a brake pedal enabling the car to be driven just like any other automatic car. But Nissan are pioneers, it’s in our blood to push the boundaries and break the norm, which is why we are developing a ‘vehicle to grid’ service for car buyers. This involves selling your electric back to the Power Grid. The savings of this scheme would potentially cover the cost of £350 to £400 annual cost of charging your car. AKA free fuel, think what you could do with that money you’ve saved. Plus, when you buy a Nissan LEAF you are supporting British workers as the car is manufactured at Nissan’s manufacturing plant in Sunderland; nice feeling. We all hate waiting when it comes to getting your new car, everyday feels like an eternity and envy curses through your veins as you see other people driving happily past in their cars. But with a Tesla Model 3 right-hand drive not even starting production till 2019, you will be waiting a long time before you can start motoring, whereas with the Nissan LEAF you can be on your way once the papers are signed. So, come put a forward date in your diary for some time in 2019 to test drive the Tesla or book your test drive in the New Nissan LEAF by calling your nearest West Way today. https://www.westway.co.uk/new-cars/nissan-leaf
