West Way Supports WellChild Golf Day

Every year, WellChild host the 'Ed Chamberlain Golf Classic' event in order to raise funds to support families with seriously ill children, and West Way are proud to support the cause.
On May 15th, 2023, West Way were in attendance at the Belfry Hotel and Resort to support WellChild at the ninth annual Ed Chamberlain Golf Classic. This year WellChild were able to raise a massive £50,000, and have overall raised nearly £500,000 since the event started in 2014.

West Way were able to support by providing two challenges to players on the day; A Hole-In-One challenge and a Longest Drive challenge.

Much like previous years, West Way sponsored hole 7 on the Brabazon course, offering all of the players on the day to win a BRAND NEW Nissan Qashqai with e-POWER if they played a hole-in-one. Unfortunately, nobody was able to achieve this, but stars, such as AP McCoy, took a look around and admired the vehicle.

Our 'Longest Drive' challenge was inspired by the lengths that some families have to go to in order for their child to receive necessary treatment. West Way promised to donate £5 for every yard of the longest drive - with the winning drive, by Simon Lucas, being 281 yards, meaning the winner has raised an incredible £1,405.

Mark Lane, West Way's Group Used Car manager, who joined Team West Way to play on the day said; "We were very happy to be attending the Ed Chamberlain Golf Classic, to raise money for WellChild, who we have been involved with for a number of years now. It was a fabulous day of golf at one of the countries leading golf resorts, which was enjoyed by all of Team West Way, including England and Bath rugby star, Matt Banahan. On what was a tough course with strong winds, we were delighted to return a team score of 71 points, which helped us finish mid-table whilst competing against some very accomplished golfers. West Way has also donated ten IPads to WellChild, which will be put to great use in order to support many families accross the country who have seriously ill children"

Matt James, WellChild CEO, said "We simply cannot thank West Way enough for supporting the Ed Chamberlin Golf Day.  Sponsoring the longest drive competition and putting up a car for the hole-in-one prize helps us to provide support for families which is desperately needed by families across the UK. Whether that be through receiving support from a WellChild Nurse who enables them to have the proper care and support at home instead of hospital, or by giving a parent the confidence to care for their child through WellChild’s Better at Home training suites, or through a Helping Hands garden transformation providing a much needed safe and accessible space. These are just some of the ways the money you have helped raise can support more WellChild families.”
