Our Stockport dealership recently lent local Tameside Radio presenter Gareth Cottrell a 100% electric e-NV200 van so his support crew could film his gruelling charity bike trek from Manchester to Wales. Due to the van’s huge cargo space and low running costs; it was a perfect choice! We spoke to Michael Kennaman - Producer at Tameside Radio and designated driver and he commented on his electric van experience: ‘We chose this particular van due to its cargo capacity as we needed to room for 3 bikes and filming equipment; plus the fact that it is 100% electric, quiet and environmentally friendly. Driving the e-NV200 was a pleasure; it handled well and held its own against regular-fuelled vehicles on the motorways. It was very quick for an electric van and dispersed any worries about power as soon as I accelerated. There were plenty of charging points along the route we were travelling and charging the van was just as easy as fuelling regular vehicles but a lot less dirty! The rapid charge points were a god send; easy to use and perfect for a quick top up on the battery.’ DJ Gareth, along with friends Bobby Chrystal and James Carter completed the tough challenge with the e-NV200 in tow and managed to raise over £1000 for the Charity ‘When You Wish Upon A Star’. Gareth added: “The adventure from Manchester to Wales was pretty hard going and at times we thought we’d never complete it. I've got to say a big thank you to West Way Stockport for the help it gave us.” See a video of the e-NV200 in all its glory here!
