West Way employee deploys with Team Rubicon UK to support COVID-19 relief efforts

Conrad is volunteering as a Regional Liaison Officer for Team Rubicon UK and is helping build a national picture of unmet needs
Conrad Froude, a Service Advisor at West Way, has recently been deployed with Team Rubicon UK to help with COVID-19 relief efforts. Team Rubicon UK is a charity providing international disaster relief and humanitarian aid. Predominantly made up of ex-service personnel, they repurpose their unique skills, experience and dedication and redeploy them to serve those most in need.

Volunteering as a Regional Liaison Officer for Team Rubicon, Conrad is embedded with the military Regional Liaison Network for the West Midlands, West Mercia and Staffordshire, and is helping build a national picture of unmet needs.

Some of the work that Team Rubicon UK volunteers have recently been carrying out include:

• Assisting with the construction of the London NHS Nightingale Hospital and Cardiff’s Dragon’s Heart Hospital
• Constructing PPE visors for the NHS
• Delivering over one million items of PPE
• Assisting at mortuaries
• Leading operations at an NHS supermarket to distribute food parcels to frontline staff

Conrad, who joined West Way earlier this year, served seven years in the Army within the Royal Engineers. He’s experienced in incident management and disaster response having previously deployed to Uganda and Mozambique with Team Rubicon UK. As well as this, Conrad is a passionate advocate for social responsibility and mental health awareness.

West Way will continue to support Conrad whilst he is deployed and support his return to work as part our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant.
