The Nissan Leaf is a Five Star Car!

Nissan's 100% electric car, Nissan Leaf, has been awarded 5 Stars by independent safety assessors, Euro NCAP. The Leaf is the first electric car ever to get top marks. The current European and World Car of the Year was particularly commended for its protection of the driver and passengers and minimal damage to the Leaf's battery pack in a crash scenario. The Nissan Leaf's final scores were as follows:

• Adult Occupant - 89%
• Child Occupant - 83%
• Pedestrian - 65%
• Safety Assist - 84%

Michiel van Ratingen, Euro NCAP secretary general, said: 'The Nissan Leaf proves that electric vehicles can be equally as safe as conventional cars.
