Latest Nissan Qashqai News:
To help accommodate new technologies and reduce emissions, the All-New Nissan Qashqai weighs 60kg lighter than its previous models. This has been done by using a significant number of lightweight aluminium panels in the hood, doors and front fenders. Not only is this great for your car it's also amazing for the environment.
By using this aluminium metal in the new model, a recycling facility that blasts out scrap metal at 150 km an hour and can handle more than seven tons of metal an hour, ensuring less waste and a greener production process has been installed in our Sunderland factory. By using this method, we reduce waste and CO2 emissions which in turn contributes to the goal Nissan has set of achieving carbon neutrality across the whole company and the life cycle of its products by 2050. This makes the All-New Nissan Qashqai the second global model from Nissan to feature aluminium parts produced with the closed-loop recycling process with talks about this being implemented across other future models and other factories.
Vice President Manufacturing Alan Johnson of Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK, said: "We continue to look for ways to make both our vehicles and our manufacturing process more sustainable. The use of lightweight aluminium in the new Qashqai is a great example. We continue to improve the efficiency and sustainability of our manufacturing operations and Sunderland will play a key role in meeting the company's commitment to carbon neutrality,"
