KEEP YOUR TYRES IN TIP TOP CONDITION WITH OUR 4 STEP GUIDE
1. STOPPING DISTANCES IN WET CONDITIONS AT 50MPH2. CHECK YOUR TREAD DEPTH
What is minimum thread depth?
The current legal limit is 1.6mm tread over the central 3/4 of the tyre in a continuous band around the entire circumference of the tyre.
3. CORRECT TYRE PRESSURE
4. OFFENCE POSITION AND HANDLING
When replacing the tyres the ideal situation would be to replace all four together. As front and rear tyres wear at different rates, this is not always practical, therefore leading manufacturers would recommend that new tyres are fitted to the rear (where possible) and the older tyres are moved to the front.
*Please note that although the majority of tyres are produced with 8mm tread depth, some tyres are produced with less and so the wear rate should be adjusted accordingly. Please note that 1.6mm is the legal limit regardless of starting thread depth.
**The current legal limit is 1.6mm tread over the central 3/4 of the tyre in a continuous band around the entire circumference of the tyre. 'RoSPA recommends that tyres are changed once the thread reaches 3mm in depth'.
