Nissan reveals record breaking sales in 2011

Nissan employs 5000 people at its plant in Washington has made profits of £2.4 billion, seeing a 19% rise since 2010. Nissan believes the success is down the launch of ten new models, which are up to date with what consumers want as well as being environmentally friendly. The LEAF is an example of this and has been welcomed with open arms by the buying public. Chief Executive, Carlos Ghosen (in 2011) said: "The bottom line is there is no doubt for me that from what we're seeing today, 2011 should progress in terms of sales compared to last year." The Tsunami back in March has had an impact on how the company runs and as a result the company has decided against forecasting for the whole year. Ghosen continued "The March 11 earthquake inJapansignificantly disrupted our operations. The company lost production of 55,000 units inJapanin March, compared with the company's original plan and the company will initially face significant market share loss globally because of the earthquake." Back at the beginning of the year, Nissan said that the Washington plant had seen production of 423,262 cars in 2010 which made it the most successful year since its opening 25 years ago.
