After producing electric cars for over a decade, Nissan is about to launch their first-ever electric SUV crossover: ARIYA. This much-anticipated model is set to be in our showrooms in autumn and in the meantime, we thought it would be useful to see how the Nissan ARIYA compares with other electric SUVs on the market.

This time we’re looking at VW’s latest electric offering, the ID.4.

So to sum up, here’s what we think about these two electric SUV models:

  • ARIYA comes across as premium whereas the ID.4 is very standard

  • Is the ID.4 strictly an SUV? We’re not convinced

  • VW doesn’t have Nissan’s solid reputation for electric vehicles

  • ID.4 doesn’t push any design boundaries and, dare we say it, seems a bit boring
