Nissan Are Going Green!

Nissan have understood that in the ever changing market place it is important to recognise areas of growth. Oil is becoming a challenge in everyday life from the cost which as at an all time high reaching £6 per gallon- to the availability and it is important to source new ways of running vehicles. For the foreseeable future Nissan hope that electric cars will prove to be the areas of growth for the company.

Nissan plan to invest £3 billion into the expansion of the electric market and want to build over half a million electric cars in a year and will begin the marketing strategy in 2011.

It is predicted that 10% of the UK market will be electric cars by 2020 and this figure is set to increase. The launch of the Nissan LEAF has been promising with strong sales. LEAF stands for Leading Environmentally Friendly car and is the first electrical car to be produced at Nissan's plant in Sunderland. The LEAF can be charged at domestic mains for the equivalent of 2.5p for every mile of motoring.

The LEAF has an impressive performance reaching 107 break horse power with a top speed of 90 mph, accelerating from 0-60 in 11.8 seconds. There is no exhaust in the LEAF which means that there is zero emissions. There is countless numbers of reasons to purchase a LEAF, not only will you be helping the environment, saving thousands of pounds on fuel, but you will save money if you are travelling into London- as the LEAF in exempt from the congestion charge.
