New Kia Optima Sportswagon

The looks that take the Optima Sportswagon into the future

From the new bumpers front and back, to the tiger-nose grille with its unique bright chrome finish, the Optima Sportswagon stands out. This is a car that proves that lighting isn’t just for helping you look, but it’s for looking at too, with its newly designed headlights and fog lights, as well as brand new LED tail lights. There’s a range of exterior colours to choose from, including the new Runway Red finish. Your 2018 Kia Optima Sportswagon sits on a superb choice of new alloy wheel designs too.

New Kia Optima Sportswagon Interior

Liking the Optima Sportswagon on the inside

There’s a great range of options for the upholstery colours, including black, two-tone black and grey, or new for 2018, there’s now a brown option. You can also choose to have cloth or leather upholstery. The steering wheel comes with a brilliant new design and there’s also a new ambient lighting feature to bathe the dashboard and the doors in your choice of six colours. The centre console features a satin-chrome trim that extends all the way across the dashboard.

Reduced weight, reduced emissions – the 2018 Optima Sportswagon is still more fun to drive

Bringing the advantages of diesel to the Optima Sportswagon is the all-new ‘U3’ 1.6-litre CRDi engine, with 136PS of power and 320Nm of torque. Thanks to active emissions control technology, this diesel engine easily meets the requirements of the new Euro 6d TEMP emissions standard, meaning CO2, particulates and NOx are all reduced. Another new option to power the Optima Sportswagon is the 180PS 1.6-litre T-GDi petrol engine. It comes with an advanced, seven-speed, double-clutch transmission, and you can change gear using the shift paddles on the steering wheel. You can also specify the naturally-aspirated 163PS 2.0-litre Continuously-Variable Valve Lift engine. If you choose the Kia Optima Sportswagon GT, then you’ll have access to all the power and performance of the 245PS 2.0-litre T-GDi engine.

Whichever engine you choose, it’s down to you how you want your Optima to feel, just by setting the drive mode selector. The mode selector offers three modes: Eco, Comfort and Sport to enable your preference for economy or acceleration. The Smart mode works with you to set the best options automatically, based on your preferences and current conditions. The ambient lighting feature has a pre-set colour for each driving mode from green for Eco mode to red for Sport mode.

Sporty new Kia Optima Sportswagon GT and GT Line

Making the Optima Sportswagon even more exciting to look at is the GT Line version, whilst making it even more exciting to drive is the Optima Sportswagon GT, with its powerful 245PS 2.0-litre engine. Both these sporty-looking cars come with new LED fog lamps and 18” aluminium alloy wheels. The subtle gloss black of the mirror caps, side sills and air intake grille project an air of sporty sophistication. The Optima Sportswagon GT Line has new twin exhausts, whilst there are chrome twin exhaust tips for the GT. The interior offers a choice of two-tone black and red leather upholstery or you can opt for black leather upholstery with contrasting red stitching.

Optima Sportswagon: prioritising safety

Kia Advanced Driver Assistance Systems make the new Optima Sportswagon one of the safest cars in its class, thanks to the intelligent active safety systems available. The Driver Attention Warning system sounds a warning and activates a display, if it senses that the driver is no longer paying attention. Forward Collision-avoidance Assist with pedestrian recognition, Lane Keeping Assist, High Beam Assist and full LED headlamps with Dynamic Bending Light are all available to help make every journey that much safer and easier.
