Mazda win Best Convertible and Best Large SUV at What Car? Awards
Mazda drive away with a pair of awards from the What Car? Awards 2016. The Mazda MX-5 is the overall Best Convertible, while the Mazda CX-5 wins Best Large SUV for under £25,000. These represent the latest in many accolades already earned by Mazda’s new range.
Best Large SUV Under £25,000: Mazda CX-5
“The revised CX-5 remains spacious inside and usefully practical, with a large boot, and its ride is more forgiving. In short, it’s a superb car made better.”
Once again, the Mazda CX-5 wins the award for Best Large SUV Under £25,000. The judges were impressed with the changes in equipment and style that were made after last year’s model. Mazda’s innovative SKYACTIV technology ensures outstanding fuel efficiency with impressive performance, while the ‘KODO – Soul of Motion’ design embodies refinement and motion. All these improvements keep the CX-5 being the best drive and the best value of the large SUVs on the market today.
Best Convertible: Mazda MX-5
The all-new Mazda MX-5 has added to its growing trophy collection by taking the prestigious Best Convertible title at the 2016 What Car? Awards. The latest generation of Mazda’s iconic Roadster was also named as the best Convertible Buy for under £25,000.
“In terms of fun per pound, this little roadster has the market cornered. Sure, there are faster hot hatches with more power, but they don’t deliver the fresh-air frolics and sweetly balanced rear-wheel-drive handling of the Mazda. Everything about it feels ideally suited to the UK, from grip levels to the high-revving engine and diminutive proportions.”
The MX-5 is great value to buy and run, and easy to live with, but more than that it’s brimming with the simple joys of open-top motoring.
