Find out just what it is that the Honda Civic Type R BTCC Racer shares with the Honda Civic Type R. Visit Brayley Honda to take the Type R for a spin and get the racetrack experience on the street.
The 2016 BTCC season launched at Donnington on 22nd March and already Halfords Yuasa Racing with its pack of Honda Civic Type R BTCC Racers is way out front in the team standings. So what’s so special about the Honda Civic Type R BTCC Racer? Well, being based on the road version of the Civic Type R, it looks really good before you even get inside and you can just see the aerodynamics. The lower ride height of the BTCC model enhances its look, but basically it’s identical to the road version, just a lot more muscular, a lot more aggressive.
And once inside, it’s all about the driver, completely stripped out and rebuilt for the track with a multi-point roll cage, a single carbon-fibre seat placed more centrally and every control being race orientated. The engine is what really counts and the Civic Type R BTCC Racer with its turbocharged 2-litre VTEC and sequential gearbox, produces 350hp, 45hp more than the road version, and enables a 0-62mph speed of around five seconds and a top speed of over 160mph. Guess what? A lot like the road version of the Civic Type R. If you can’t get to the BTCC, just pop down to Brayleys, you’re always welcome to see the hottest of hot hatches at our showrooms.
