100% Electric Crossover: The Nissan ARIYA – first impressions
New Car Performance Manager Dean Naylor, Sales Executives Harry Wells and Fahad Mahmood, plus Kerry Hatfield and Chris Furness from the Marketing Department experienced the latest addition to the Nissan family and the Japanese brand’s first all-electric Crossover.
This pre-production model is based on the Advance grade, with additional spec which included a beige leather interior and electric panoramic sunroof. Finished in Aurora Green – just one of ten colours the ARIYA will be available in – what really strikes home about this car is the dramatic exterior front on looks and the futuristic feel to the dashboard inside.
The ARIYA sits between the All-New Qashqai and the X-Trail in terms of size, but with that stunning front grille, 19-inch alloy wheels as standard, and the spacey impression inside made all the better with the Sky Pack, it feels like a ‘big’ car. The headroom in the back and the 466-litre boot space both reinforce that feeling.
The ARIYA has the look and feel of a high-end coupe crossover and although we couldn’t test drive this model, the acceleration, handling and driving experience of this car is already being critically acclaimed. It aims to appeal to those who are still driving traditionally-fuelled engines as well as drivers looking to upgrade from smaller electric or hybrid vehicles. Powered by a choice of either 63 or 87kWh batteries, the ARIYA grades boasts ranges of between 223 and 310 miles with a top 0-62 of just 5.1 seconds. Each of the ARIYAs grades come with a choice of modes: Eco, Sport and Standard, whilst the All-Wheel Drive e4ORCE derivatives also offer a Snow setting.
