Motability Adaptations

Motability adaptations are available for vehicles where customers require extra assistance or features. With around 500 options available on the Scheme, many of which are free of charge when fitted at the beginning of your lease, driving and access can be made easier, and stowage for a wheelchair or scooter can be optimised.

How do I know which adaptations I need?

Modern vehicles are far more accommodating to varying needs than when the Motability Scheme was established in the 1970s. Many features – such as automatic gearboxes and boots with flat entry – are readily available as options at the point of production, meaning many customers’ needs can be met without additional adaptations. If, however, you have specific difficulties when driving or accessing a vehicle, tailored solutions can be found.

Our Motability specialists are here to advise which adaptations could make your experience simpler and more convenient. For example, those with driving difficulties can request mechanical hand controls or steering aids, while for customers with specific access needs, transfer plates or swivel seats can be fitted. Whatever the adaptation you require, we’ll ensure it’s requested, and will discuss any applicable charges before completing your order.
