Design – the outside

First to catch the eye is the trademark tiger-nose grille, more sophisticated with its dark metallic finish. The lighting signature, front and back, is updated with LED headlights and tail lights, whilst new front and rear bumpers top and tail the exciting new look. The 2018 Kia Sorento sits on your choice of 17”, 18” or 19” aluminium alloy wheels, all newly designed. There are also two striking new finishes available: Rich Espresso and Gravity Blue.

New Kia Sorento Interior

And on the inside

Inside, you have a choice of five seats or seven seats. The emphasis is on upgrading the cabin to give it a premium feel with the use of more soft-touch materials and leather. You can now choose to have a two-tone, black and stone beige interior colour scheme or a single-tone, black interior. You can also choose between cloth or leather upholstery, with the additional option of specifying the leather upholstery in brown or light grey. Comfort has been enhanced with the addition of four-way adjustable lumbar support for the driver and two-way for the front-seat passenger. To further enhance driver comfort, there’s a new steering wheel and a new infotainment system and access screens.

More and updated tech

The latest infotainment system from Kia features an 8” touch screen, offering access to the navigation system and to Kia Connected Services, all powered by TomTom. Smartphone integration is available via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, whilst there’s also a wireless charger. You can specify the Harman/Kardon sound system, which will give you 640 watts of surround sound through its 10 speakers, as well as a music restoration feature. Keeping you cool is the climate control system, easily operated through the new LCD display.

New safety features

Never before available on this SUV, the 2018 Kia Sorento will feature DRIVE WISE, Kia’s suite of active technology systems, designed to help you avoid accidents and to minimise the effect of any collision.

Safety features available will include:

  • Driver attention warning
  • Lane keeping assist system
  • High beam assist
  • LED headlamps with dynamic bending light

Powering the new Kia Sorento

Take your pick of the 2.0-litre CRDi diesel engine, producing 185PS, the 2.2-litre, 200PS CRDi diesel engine or the 2.4-litre, 188PS direct injection, petrol engine. You can also specify all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive and either six-speed manual or automatic transmissions, depending on the model you choose.

There’s a groundbreaking, new eight-speed automatic transmission available with the 2.2-litre diesel engine. Using fewer control valves, to allow quicker gear shifts and more decisive acceleration, this eight-speed transmission reduces CO2 emissions by some 13g/km. Integral to the system is the availability of four drive modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport and Smart. These drive modes enable you to set how you want your Sorento to behave and whether you want to emphasise performance or efficiency. The Smart mode cleverly switches between the other three modes, based on its understanding of how you’re driving.
