Upgraded Picanto driver assistance
The upgraded 2020 Picanto now comes with a host of connectivity, driver assistance and safety features, often reserved for larger models. ‘Phase II’ UVO Connect telematics give owners an enhanced user experience, onboard and via Kia’s UVO smartphone app. Detailed information is available, including live traffic information, points of interest, fuel prices, weather forecasts and the price, location and availability of parking spaces.
The new Picanto is among the safest cars in its class too, now with extra driver assistance technology. Seven airbags and ISOFIX child-seat points are standard across the range.
From the ‘2’ trim level, these safety systems all come as standard:
• Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) with vehicle and pedestrian detection • Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) • Torque Vectoring by Braking • Cornering Brake Control (CBC) • Straight-line Stability (SLS)
Other systems available include blind-spot collision avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, a driver attention warning system and lane following assist.
Lane following assist is an innovative system that uses a front-facing camera and sensors to monitor road markings. The car can automatically control the steering and throttle on the move to ensure it stays centrally placed in the lane. Drivers can also benefit from the Emergency Stop Signal system. If the driver has to brake suddenly, the hazard warning lights automatically flash to alert the car behind.
