Hybrid engine

Think about your daily journey to and from work in electric mode. You’ll enjoy calm, almost silent comfort and style – and up to 36 miles on a single charge.

The Kia Niro plug-in hybrid combines one of Kia’s latest petrol engines with an electric motor and battery pack to cut fuel use and CO2. Not only can you expect cost savings from fewer visits to the pumps, you’ll also be cutting the impact of every journey on air quality, even more vital in built-up areas.

On local trips and around town, the Niro plug-in hybrid uses its electric mode. At higher speeds, the Niro changes to engine power mode to increase energy efficiency.

Hybrid battery charging

The advantage of the Niro PHEV is that even if your battery is at the lowest level, the petrol engine will simply take over. This means you’ll always reach your destination – even if it’s a long drive.

Charging the Kia Niro plug-in hybrid is easy. Simply take the cable provided and plug it in to a home charging station or one of over 13,000 public charging points all over the country. For more information about Kia home charging stations, contact your friendly, local Brayley Kia main dealer by sending an email.

Clean design

As well as lowering your CO2 footprint, the Kia Niro plug-in hybrid is a great-looking, subtly styled crossover SUV. Kia’s unique front grille has a special chrome trim with a metallic-blue finish and blue accent details around the fog lamps. It also comes with unique 16” alloy wheels that have been designed to reduce wind resistance. As standard, LED daytime running lights have been added to the front bumper. Some models also offer full-LED headlamps.

What’s the Kia Niro plug-in hybrid like to drive?

There’s nothing like moving smoothly through town, in traffic or on local roads in near silence. That’s a big plus of driving in electric mode. The drive is responsive and assured, and it’s easy to get used to the calm environment inside the cabin. The change to normal power mode is seamless. In fact, you wouldn’t know you’re in a hybrid car, aside from the subtle badging on the dashboard.

All-New Kia Niro PHEV Interiors

Hybrid technology

The Kia Niro plug-in hybrid comes with an advanced, high-capacity 8.9 kWh battery pack that powers a 44.5kWh electric motor. This is combined with the 1.6-litre four-cylinder GDI engine and six-speed DCT transmission. With a total power of some 140PS, the Niro takes you from 0-62mph in only 10.8 seconds.

Kia Niro’s electric drive system helps the environment. CO2 drops to less than 30g/km on the combined cycle, and falls to zero in electric-only mode.

The Niro PHEV is also packed with new, energy-efficient advances. Regenerative braking, for example, returns energy to the battery while braking. There’s also a clever new Eco Driving Assistant System. This notifies the driver on how to increase efficiency when driving. It’ll advise when to lift your foot off the accelerator and coast towards junctions. The navigation system sees changes in the road ahead such as hills and bends, and switches to the most suitable power mode.

Interior Design

The Niro PHEV is an SUV that meets the rigours of daily family use and trips for work or leisure. There’s plenty of space inside, with fully refined comfort for driver and passengers. The high-quality cabin comes with your choice of black leather or light grey and black leather upholstery. Whichever you choose, you’ll get eye-catching blue stitching. There’s also a new blue surround for the air vents on the dashboard, a subtle reminder you’re driving the Niro PHEV.

With all the hybrid technology hidden under the floor of the 324-litre boot and the rear seat bench, the Niro offers more practical space than any other plug-in hybrid in the same class. There’s even space for a storage area under the boot floor for the Niro plug-in hybrid's charging cable.
