The sharp-eyed will immediately notice the apostrophe has been dropped from the name of Kia’s familiar and highly successful cee’d range. And with the new name comes a dynamic new styling and long list of standard equipment for the Sportwagon. Inside and out, the design suggests a bold and sophisticated dynamism. This is clearly a car that will be fun to drive. And with a host of innovative technologies, your luxury, comfort and safety will be better than ever. Kia’s European design team have added features that drivers here really want, like a class-leading luggage capacity. The 600 litres of boot space is bigger than many much larger cars.

Kia Ceed Sportswagon Drive

The third-generation Ceed Sportswagon has been improved in the hands-on driving department too. It’s responsive and agile on the road, making it engaging and enjoyable to drive. That’s another benefit of having the car designed, developed, engineered and built in Europe. Available later this year as a five-door hatchback and Sportswagon, the new Ceed model family will further strengthen Kia’s presence in the medium-sized, family hatchback and estate class. Since the first-generation Kia cee’d started production in Slovakia in December 2006, more than 1.28 million cars have been built. The new simplified name – cee’d becomes Ceed – emphasises its reputation as a car for the community of Europe, with European design.

Dynamic design

The new Ceed Sportwagon is lower and wider than its predecessor, and boasts a striking, contemporary new design. It now looks more agile and mature. Standard LED daytime running lights hint at the technology beneath the surface. In profile, the sharp, straight lines visually lengthen the bonnet and give the car a more upright stance.

The lower air intake is a clue towards the new dynamic nature of the new Sportswagon. To the rear, new LED tail lights sit under the boot spoiler completed the look from behind. The new Ceed Sportswagon sits on either 15-inch” or 16-inch steel wheels, 16-inch aluminium alloy wheels, or 17-inch two-tone diamond cut alloys. There are also 12 exterior paint colours to choose from.

Quality interior

Everything you see and touch in the cockpit of the new Kia Ceed Sportswagon feels like it has been taken from a higher class. The hallmark of the new interior are the soft-touch materials and the more driver-centric centre console. This houses the ‘floating’ touchscreen infotainment system.

As well as an increase in technology, front passengers will also notice an increase in legroom and headroom as well greater visibility. There’s more shoulder room for rear passengers too, and with genuine leather upholstery as well as leather-wrapped gear stick and steering wheel, the overall feel inside the Ceed Sportswagon is one of space and sophistication.

The Ceed Sportswagon has been popular with those looking for the added versatility of an estate without sacrificing the style or dynamic drive that comes with Kia hatchback. The new Ceed Sportswagon continues this trend with 600 litres of luggage space when the rear seats are in the upright position. With the rear seats down, the increase in space is exceptional, creating room for whatever it may be that you need to transport.

Engine choice

The Ceed Sportswagon will be powered by a wide choice of engines to meet any requirements. Buyers can choose between three petrol engines: Kia’s popular 1.0-litre T-GDi turbocharged engine, producing 120ps; a new 1.4-litre T-GDi turbo unit, producing 140ps; or a 100ps 1.4-litre MPi (multi-point injection) engine.

The new Ceed is also available with Kia’s all-new ‘U3’ diesel engine. Designed to go beyond the stricter limits laid down by the latest Euro 6d TEMP emissions standard, the new ultra-clean ‘U3’ 1.6-litre CRDi (common-rail direct injection) uses Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) active emissions control technology to significantly reduce emissions. Available with a choice of power outputs (115 and 136ps), the new 1.6-litre diesel produces 280 Nm of torque.

Every engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, while 1.4-litre T-GDi and 1.6-litre CRDi engines are also available with Kia’s seven-speed double-clutch transmission.
