New Kia Ceed

Self-confident Ceed

Lower and wider with a strong shoulder line and an upright stance, the 2018 Kia Ceed has really matured, yet it also has a sporty and emotive side to its character. At the front, the Kia benefits from a wider ‘tiger-nose’ grille with ‘ice cube’ LED daytime running lights to either side and a lower air intake. Straight lines have replaced rounded edges, whilst the wide C-pillar marks out the Ceed as a modern Kia. To the rear there’s a subtle rear boot spoiler and new LED daytime running lights. The Ceed sits on your choice of 15” or 16” steel wheels, 16” aluminium alloy wheels, or 17” two-tone diamond cut alloys. There’s also a choice of 12 exterior paint colours.

Ergonomic Ceed

The hallmark of the interior is the use of more high-quality, soft-touch materials throughout. The driver-centric centre console is angled slightly towards you as you sit in the driving seat and the dash is in two sections, the top section houses the ‘floating’ touchscreen infotainment system, with the audio, heating and ventilation controls below. The front-seat passenger now enjoys more space with increased legroom and headroom, as well as a better view forward. There’s more space for the rear passengers too, thanks to an increase in shoulder room. To enhance the cabin even more, you can choose genuine leather upholstery, as well as a leather-wrapped gear stick and steering wheel. And complementing the spacious cabin, there’s generous luggage capacity in the 395-litre boot.

Ceed and go

There are three petrol engines to choose from:

  • 1.0-litre T-GDi engine, 120PS
  • 1.4-litre T-GDi, 140PS
  • 1.4-litre MPi, 100PS

Kia has also invested in the development of a new, cleaner diesel engine. The ‘U3’ diesel engine not only meets, but actually exceeds the requirements of the latest Euro 6d TEMP emissions standard, resulting in significant reductions in carbon dioxide emissions, particulate matter and NOx. This new ‘U3’ 1.6-litre CRDi engine is available with power outputs of either 115PS or 136PS.

All the 2018 Kia Ceed engines are offered with a six-speed manual transmission. If you go for the 1.4-litre T-GDi petrol engine or the 1.6-litre CRDi diesel, you’ll also be able to opt for a seven-speed double-clutch transmission.

New Kia Ceed

Comfortable, responsive Ceed

When you drive the new Ceed, you’ll appreciate just how much attention Kia has paid to improving its ride and handling. Kia has also ensured that the Ceed is ready to gives its best on UK roads, as some of the tuning and development work was carried out here. There’s a new and fully independent suspension system and a faster steering rack, whilst the spring and damper rates have been modified. The result is a more comfortable ride, enhanced stability at speed and tighter control when cornering, all contributing to a more engaging drive.

Technological Ceed

The new Kia Ceed is starting its life as the most high-tech car currently available in its class. Innovative technologies abound to maximise the appeal of the Ceed’s infotainment, efficiency, driver experience, comfort and convenience, lighting, safety and driver assistance.

Standard across the new Ceed range are Driver Attention Warning, Lane Keeping Assist and Forward Collision Warning with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, as well as High Beam Assist. Other safety technologies available include Blind Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Smart Parking Assist. Lane Following Assist is also available – it’s a ‘Level Two’ autonomous driving technology and a first for Kia on any of its European range.

Another first for any Kia is the optional heated windshield, whilst heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear seats can also be specified, so taking to the road in your new Ceed will be much more enjoyable, however cold the morning.

And with the option of the JBL Premium sound system with Clari-Fi music restoration, you’ll be fully entertained every mile. There’s an impressive ‘floating’ infotainment system available too, in either a 5” or 7” touchscreen audio system configuration or an 8” touchscreen navigation system. Full Bluetooth smartphone integration comes as standard and there’s the option of a wireless smartphone charger.
