This is immediately discernible by a streamlined full-LED headlight which is hooped with daytime running lights and framed within a horseshoe-style aluminium bezel. Indeed, aluminium features prominently. For instance, a restyled aluminium subframe presents the bike with its distinctive in-your-face attitude. Meanwhile, freshly reshaped burnished aluminium radiator shrouds are possessed of a more compact and forward-tilting appearance. New seven-spoke wheels feature radials that divide into three distinct sections as they near the rim, lending each wheel an attractive 21-spoke appearance. Smoothly powerful The Honda CBR1000R is as potent as it is good-looking. A liquid-cooled DOHC 998cc engine delivers more power than ever, putting out a maximum 143.5bhp at 10,500rpm and a peak torque of 104Nm at 8,250rpm. At low revs, this in-line four-cylinder motor is self-possessed and refined, and offers plenty of mid-range oomph whenever required, and it returns up to 39.8mpg while producing CO2 emissions from 137g/km. Optimal control is provided by an adjustable Showa Separate Function Fork Big Piston. Simultaneously, rear shock-absorbers automatically adjust to deliver sufficient preload and rebound damping, helping the rider to enjoy as smooth a ride as possible. 4-2-1 go! Four exhaust pipes become two pipes become one… Above 5,000rpm, the CBR1000R’s 4-2-1 exhaust system produces a growlingly bass-heavy tone – the perfect soundtrack to the bike’s rapid-fire acceleration.

Three riding modes The CBR1000R’s Throttle-by-Wire control system offers STANDARD, RAIN and SPORT riding modes, allowing you to choose the one that best suits the prevailing conditions. You’re also provided with three-level customisation of engine power and braking, as well as Honda’s Selectable Torque Control.
